“As Executive Director for a nonprofit, renovating a building built in the 1800s was a rather unique project – and not one in which I’ve had a lot of experience. However, I had the good fortune of working with the Brennan team throughout the process. I appreciated our weekly update meetings in which we toured the project. I also appreciated their close scrutiny of the budget – something that was critical to our organization since repairs and renovations were being funded with contributions from our generous donors. I also appreciated their willingness to seek me out, when necessary, for my input regarding various decisions hroughout the process. This building very much became a team effort between Brennan Companies and our organization. Because of our very open line of communication, we had relatively few surprises throughout the process.

Lastly, I would like to express my appreciation regarding the professionalism of the Brennan employees. They treated my staff and me with respect, they returned my phone calls and e-mails in a very timely manner (and continue to do so), they cared about the quality of the work and they were friendly and accommodating to work with. Needless to say, we could not always anticipate the issues we might uncover in the building; however, I thought that we were always able to work through all obstacles thrown our way and the end result is wonderful.”

3333 Hennepin – Missing Middle Housing

This urban infill project removed an uninhabitable single-family home and constructed a 3-story, 11-unit multifamily building in its place. The project has 2 towers of apartments connected by open balconies. This provides private entry to each unit and extra outdoor space. The building owner will have an office on the main floor of the project. This project focuses on quality of construction, quality of living, and sustainability.

The goal of the project was to provide the missing middle housing to meet the needs of affordable, accessible quality housing to residents in the City of Minneapolis. You can read more about the “Missing Middle Vernacular” in Great Lakes By Design’s (Volume 5, issue 4) article that highlights this project.
